Big thanks to August McLaughlin for tagging me in a recent post and for posing the following thought-provoking questions!
What did you eat for breakfast?
Homemade granola. Here’s the recipe:
- 5 cups of rolled oats
- 1/2 cup of honey
- 1/2 cup of oil
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- dash of cinnamon
- dash of nutmeg
Mix ingredients. Spread on cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. I usually take it out of the oven after about 7 minutes, stir, then put it back in for the remainder.
If you could re-live any day of your life, as often as you’d like, which would you choose?
Any day of any vacation with my wife.
Of the books you’ve read recently, which is your favorite?
Simon Read’s War of Words.
You have front row seats and back stage passes for any concert. Who’s on stage?
I’ve been in a Morrissey mood lately.
Who’s the last person you hugged?
My wife.
What’s your favorite smell?
I recently took a trip to the Wharton Esherick Museum in Paoli, Pennsylvania. He was an artist and a woodworker, and I loved the scent of his studio.
What’s your best bargain-hunting or money-saving tip?
Instead of buying breakfast cereal, make your own granola.
What’s your funniest or strangest high school memory?
Singing “Soul Man” a la the Blues Brothers with my friend Dan Barry in the jazz band concert. Unfortunately, one of my sisters lost the videotape.
How do you feel about your birthday?
Patton Oswalt says it best: “There’s only about twenty-five birthdays you should be allowed to celebrate.”
What do you not miss about being younger?
Pimples. And insecurity. Of course, the reason I don’t miss them is that they never left. They’re just better at hiding.
What about you tends to surprise others?
That I make my own granola.
Marc–I sense you’re on a roll[ed oat]!
Ha! Indeed.
Morrissey, woo hoo!
Here’s one of my favorites:
Love it! I’m going to have to dig around in my old CD collection to find out what Morrissey treasures lie hidden there…
For some reason I feel like having some granola….
Morrissey has that effect on people.
Thanks for the granola recipe! I might add some choc chips to that though! 🙂
Chocolate chips are good… Raisins, too!
Great answers, Marc! Thanks for joining in and for alerting me to Simon Read’s work. “War of Words” is next on my to-read list. 🙂
Thanks for the questions! And I hope you like War of Words!
Ha!!! these are super!
The birthday quote is spot-on…and homemade granola? Great!!!

Love Morrissey too! Simon’s book is on my nightstand. Glad to hear you liked it so much! I have three more library books to finish and then I’m on it. 🙂
Hope you like Simon’s book! Here’s another favorite Morrissey song of mine:
I ❤ Morrissey! Great song–thanks for sharing it. I love his older stuff too. Like that one about drowning not waving.
