When I heard “Electronic Renaissance” by Belle & Sebastian, it immediately struck me as familiar, but I wasn’t sure why. Someone else had a song just like it, I kept thinking, but who? Turns out, the song I was thinking of is “Procession” by New Order. Here they are side-by-side:
Is it me, or do these songs sound remarkably similar?

I’d agree. I played them simultaneously and they actually blended.
I do hear a similarity in the cadence of the driving rhythm, though it’s a somewhat common beat. Some of the synths sounds are similar too, though Belle & Sebastian’s are more psychedelic.
